Once upon a time, gods roamed the earth freely and happily. They were the deities everyone worshiped, and sometimes they graced the humans with their presence, or their blessing. Ancient Greece, Nordic countries…It was part of a culture, a legacy, something so majestic that people can’t begin to grasp it nowadays. So why was it forgotten? Time, time, time. Besides, something so oldschool wouldn’t fit into our modern world, would it? Think again. What would happen if our modern, technology advanced world was found itself forcefully meshed with the tempestuous forces of Ancient Greece and its counterpart, the barbaric Norsemen from Scandinavia? What if there were people among us––sitting a seat away in the coffee shops, walking past us in the mall, or even as close as our lab partners in science class––who weren’t as they seemed? That there were those who had abilities beyond what was considered natural, and that those few had direct contact to the so-deemed gods? What if they were being taught to be the next generation of gods? Being accessed monthly through their dreamscapes, what if these ‘demigods’ are the actual children of the gods and their earthly lovers, and are being commissioned by the powers that be to take over for their parents in who knows how many years? But wait, I know what you’re thinking: that’s all well and good, but what does it have to do with me? Well, what if I told you that all of it was true? Don’t look at me like that, I’m not kidding! What if I told you not only that it was true, but that you, yes you, were more involved in it than you think you are?[/blockquote]What if I told you that you were one of them?
It's a simple prospect, really––if you've got bad dreams, or an unexplained knack for something, or even an unnatural weakness for something––how far a cry can it be to say you're a demigod? No, seriously, don't walk away. Let's look at the facts. All the requirements are that one of your parents is a god or goddess, and the other one is mortal. However that ended up happening is beyond us––only you can know, by doing a little genealogical digging. Ah, now you're interested, I can tell. How do you find out you're a demigod for certain, you ask? Well, when you reach a certain age or a certain point in your life at which your divine parent sees fit to summon you, it'll be pretty hard to hide it anymore. They can access you through your dreams, manipulate the places you've kept hidden to the world and bring you to their heavenly palaces: the regal and imposing Mount Olympus or the swarthy and rugged City of Asgard. You'll get summoned once the first time, get enough of a taste of your full potential to crave more, and then it's up to you to win favor with your divine parent to be rewarded with another dreamy visit, in which you will learn how to control your abilities and use them in responsible ways. In the meantime, the gods protect you by obscuring your innate abilities with weakness: for instance, Aphrodite's daughter would be awful at maintaining relationships, because if she was too good at it, why, then it'd be obvious and she might end up drawing too much attention to herself. And we wouldn't want that, no matter how much Aphrodite might. (; Just look at Agatha LeBreun––she'll tell you whether or not that holds true.
So, what if you're a demigod? What if your whole life has been a lie? What if you're not who you thought you were? What if there was more to this world than you'd ever dreamed?Welcome to Pantheos, a place where all of those 'what if's' are reality. Because the gods are back, and they don't play nice.
